Name change: Little White Lie

We have been hard at work and 2013 proves to be a big year for Truth Aid as we prepare to release two feature length films, one narrative and one documentary.

Our feature length documentary  LITTLE WHITE LIE formerly called OUTSIDE THE BOX is being co-produced with the Independent Television Service and explores issues of identity and race in America. Stay tuned for further announcements.

Little White Lie: About

One woman’s quest to uncover a secret that will change the way audiences talk about race, family, and identity.

Lacey Schwartz thought she knew who she was. Then she learned differently. At eighteen she discovered that her biological father was not the white man who raised her but a black man with whom her mother had an affair. Suddenly Lacey’s Jewish upbringing didn’t tell the whole story. While the truth about her paternity explained the way  she looked, she was only left with more questions that she never asked until her biological father died and the truth started to come out.

LITTLE WHITE LIE (formerly called Outside the Box)  is a first-person documentary about one woman’s quest to face the truth, and move forward with her life. At its core, it is a journey of self-discovery about how to overcome a little girl’s shame about not knowing who she was and the denial she and her family have carried for thirty years.

The film  is part of a larger multi-platform project that also includes a video installation, online interactive content and a community-building outreach initiative that addresses the boundaries of race, family secrets and denial.
